The volume is fully bound with speckled calf covered boards with red mottled edges to the text block. Written in pencil on the front paste down is "Vol 5". Pasted onto the top left corner of the 3rd fly are 2 labels "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". Written in pencil on the reverse of the half title page are bibliographers notes and stamped onto the reverse of the title page is the circular stamp with "The Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" and inside "The Kenneth Monkman Collection". Written on the rear paste-down, in pencil, is "1st Edition 9 vols 1760 (1759)-1767.
