The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. In Three Volumes, Volume I (containing original Volumes 1=3)

This volume is fully bound with leather covered boards. Pasted onto the top right corner of the front paste-down are 2 white labels "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with undeneath "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". Stamped onto the rear of the title page is the circular stamp with "The Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection". On the rear of the front free ene-page are 4 lines of pencil scribbles and on the rear end-pages are a series of crudely executed sketches. Both sets of end pages also have scribble marks cut into the surface of the paper.Written in ink on the centre of the frontispiece appears to be the initials "JA".
