The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman. Volume 6. The First Edition.

This volume is fully bound in leather with red mottled edges to the text block. On the front paste-down there are 2 labels; top left is "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" with underneath and partially covering the bookplate is "Property of the Laurence Sterne Trust, 1986". On the title page in pencil is "KM 5". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp with "Laurence sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. On the bottom of the rear paste-down in pencil is "K - 10 / 21".The spine has 5 raised bands with foliate decoration in between. The title piece is in the second panel down in gilt impressed capitols on an ox-blood background "Tristr Shand" the volume piece is in the third panel down, and just visible "Vol 6". The board faces have a gilt border of 2 lines and the rims have the remains of impressed decoration.
