This volume is fully bound in leather over boards. The edges of the text block are gilt and the paste-downs and end-pages are comprised from one piece of marbled paper (Dahlia pattern). The front paste-down has 3 labels; in the centre is a previous owners bookplate underneath a heraldic device with "Dum spiro Spero" in capitols is "Anthony Morris Storer". On the top left side "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall" and underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986". On the reverse of the title page is a circular stamp in ink with "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside. The catchword is to the bottom right of every page.The spine is decorated with 5 false raised band with floral decoration in between, all in gilt. Also on the spine in gilt is "Sterne" "II". The board faces are decorated with a border of 2 gilt lines and the board rims also have gilt impressed decoration. Where the leather folds over the board the inside is also decorated in an impressed and gilt pattern. Missing Chapter between p. 110 - 120
