The Sermons of Mr. Yorick. Volume 1. Fifth Edition.

This volume is fully bound in marbled leather over boards and the edges of the text block have faint evidence of green mottling. The front paste-down has 2 labels; "From the Library of Kenneth Monkman at Shandy Hall", and underneath this is "Property of the L S Trust, 1986" On the obverse of the title page is an ink stamp "Laurence Sterne Trust Shandy Hall" in a circle with "The Kenneth Monkman Collection" inside it. There is a printers device/flower underneath the title. On the front paste-down is what is likely a previous owners signature in ink "Ann F....(?)" "10th (?) 1797. Underneath this in pencil is "Want portrait". On the front free end-page are some pencil scribbles with "5.5" in ink top right corner. On the title page a previous owners signature has been scrubbed out between the title words "Sermons" and "Mr. Yorick".The catchword is to the bottom right of every page.
