Memoires De Sterne with Tristram Shandy. Tome Cinquieme and Tome Sixieme.

This volume is bound in marbled paper boards, Papier Tourniquet pattern, with a leather spine. The spine has 7 flase raised bands each decorated with 3 gilt lines. The title piece is in impressed gilt capitols with a gilt decorative line "Sterne Tristram Shandy". Gilt impressed volume numbers are also surrounded by a decorative line "5-6" . The paste-downs and free end-pages are comprised from single sheets of marbled paper, Shell pattern. The front paste-down has 2 labels on the top left side. "From the Library of Kenneth at Shandy Hall" with "Property of the L S Trust, 1986" underneath. Both volumes have seperate title pages and contents pages at the rear. On the obverse of the title page of the tome cinquieme is a circular stamp with "Laurence Sterne Trust" with inside "The Kenneth Monkman Collection".
