Description

This volume is fully bound with black cloth-covered boards and also a black paper cover.  The top edge of the text block is stained red.  The front board has a gilt impressed panel in the centre depicting a rider and horse.  The Black Page has been ommited and should be on or after page 28. The Marbled Page is double-sided and located between pages 192=193, this is unconventional marbling and an edge-to-edge pattern. The frontispiece is the Widow Wadman and has the caption “As Unlike your Wife as your Conscience will Let You”.  There are fifteen other full-page illustrations  and 78 uncaptioned illustrations throughout the volume.

Purchased by the Trust in 1986. The book was originally priced at 25 shillings.
