We are grateful to the many organisations and individuals who have supported The Laurence Sterne Trust and the work at Shandy Hall over many years.
If we have failed to mention you by name below please contact us and we will update the list.
COVID-19 response
Between March 2020 and May 2021 we were unable to welcome visitors to Shandy Hall, although we were able to allow people into the gardens when the rules allowed. The loss of income to cover our essential running costs put our future at risk. The following grants have enabled us to weather the storm and look forward to our normal busy season in 2022:
Arts Council England Emergency Fund
Government’s Culture Recovery Fund
Government’s Small Business Support Grant (through Hambleton District Council)
Government’s Covid Job Retention Scheme
Historic England: Covid-19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund
The National Lottery Heritage Emergency Fund
Support from national organisations and charitable trusts
Organisations that have given financial support in the past to specific projects or contributed to the purchase of items for the collection, include:
Art Fund
Arts Council England
The Bantam Trust
The Ernest Cook Trust
The Foyle Foundation
The Friends of National Libraries
The Heritage Lottery Fund
The Holbeck Charitable Trust
The Loveday Trust
The Normanby Trust
Polyhalite Products
Ronnie Duncan Art Foundation
The Samuel Storey Family Charitable Trust
Veneziana Fund
Whitaker Charitable Trust
Winton Consulting
The Wolfson Foundation
Support from individuals
We are grateful to the many individuals who have supported us with donations over the years.
These include the many artists who, over the years, have donated works for our auction exhibitions to raise funds for the upkeep of Shandy Hall.
