Evening openings for the National Gardens Scheme with moth release

Shandy Hall gardens holds special open gardens sessions for the National Gardens Scheme. On two evenings in June, we open in the evenings to share our interest in moth identification and highlight the biodiversity of the gardens. Evenings can be a particularly lovely time in the garden, and moths caught the previous night are identified and released.

Christmas Candlelit tours

In December we offer a chance to experience Shandy Hall by firelight and candlelight, as it was in the past.  A tour includes an opportunity to see hidden parts of the Hall rarely seen by the public, and to find out more of the history of the house, and the families who have lived there over nearly 600 years.  After the tour guests are invited to join us by the fire in the Old Kitchen for a glass of mulled wine or hot ginger, and mince pies.
